Women Education = W.E.E.K (Ends in Kitchen)

By Joanna Vaiou

I recently read something that made an impression to me. In fact it made me write an article and it was in Greek, that was a big challenge.

Women education is W.E.E.K = Ends in Kitchen

It was an inspiration that was generated by reading a Facebook acquaintance post which said:

"When you educate a man you educate an individual but when you educate a woman you educate a nation."

The W.E.E.K term about female education came as a reply to the above post.

Finally, people shared with me, what are the customs in other countries when female are concerned...

“Every woman’s education ends in the kitchen,.” That’s what everyone told me. In Calabar, Nigeria, a young girl is supposed to be seen and not heard. She watches her
brothers go to school every day while she learns to do what her mother does: caring for the family, cooking, farming, giving birth to as many children as the husband wants — whether or not he can feed them. And then before that young girl gets married, she undergoes female genital mutilation; then she is given to a man to be his well-trained wife."

I understand that there are still countries and societies that treat women so awfully, even today. Hard to talk about Personal development there, I hear laughter already in my head.

My answer was (Referring to the evolved countries like mine): A woman when Being in a kitchen and nowhere else is a Personal CHOICE and if she is happy with it then so be it! We live in a Free world. Knowing how to cook BTW is very important for both MEN and WOMEN. I seriously visualized my diseased grandpa waking up from the grave and saying something like that. In their time the husband-wife relationship was a master-servant relationship.

There are still people and young people that support this underestimating point of view about women and how useful and important things they can do if educated properly, besides the cooking and the cleaning etc. Women who end up in a kitchen are not week or "weak". It is only one part of their life that they can be very good at.

In Greece even though we are supposed to be an "evolved" nation, there are lots of men who are still looking for a wife which will be the best maid. Is it ok to still use this term? Maid?

So, for men who like dynamic and independent women.. Learn how to cook and how to take care of your children and your family's needs as well!!

It will be greatly appreciated from all the female community. Guaranteed.

Have a great day everyone.

The 'Women's Liberation' movement did not liberate women, it simply made them give up their position of true power in the home and gave them the position that macho women felt they should have.

A woman in the home is the true leader of the family. It is she who decides the rules by which the family will live and even the most brutal of husbands is aware of this (and that is probablty the reason he is brutal). He is continuing the age old battle for supremacy but using only violence to support his own case.

Women's Liberation dethroned women and reduced them to the same level as the men. They too are now becoming more brutal as they seek to re-establish for themselves their proper, traditional place at the head of the family.

The kitchen is the true heart of any home and who rules the kitchen .........

Unfortunately the macho women have won their fight to belittle the place of women in society so that now they have no real place. Those who choose to remain at home are denigrated by their sisters as weak while those who go out to work see the fall in the family standards as the steady hand on the tiller disappears for 8 or 10 hours a day.

Society needs the strong guidance that only women can provide. What a pity they have chosen not to provide it.

Thank you, very interesting point of view.

I love this network. Looking forward to other comments as well.

Have a great weekend.

Nice to hear from you again, Joanna. There are still many cultures out there that regard women in this "w.e.e.k." manner. So called cultural traditions often even lag behind other forms of national progress. Education is the key here, I think. In America, there is still a confusion of hearts and minds regarding women's rights and even just what exactly IS a right. There are some very explosive and emotional issues involved depending on one's vantage point. But as far as partnership relationships are concerned, the key word is "partnership". According to the Bible, God made woman from Adam's rib, not from a bone in his foot. She was meant to be his partner. She was meant to make him feel more complete. She was not created to be his slave. There are physical and emotional differences between the sezes. This is why we are meant to be partners. This is not to say that women should not ever stay or wish to remain single. It just means that men and women are meant for each other biologically, mentally, and emotionally. They complete each other.

Sorry for the "preach". I guess this means that I agree with you... I think.
Regards,
Jim

Thank you Frederick,

Best wishes as well for a Happy Sunday :)

On the other end of this you have men who have grown up not being taught to cook by either their father or mother.

I can still recall eating half cooked, half charred chicken which we had attempted to cook over the campfire in Boy Scouts.
